Illinois Home Sellers Become A Target For New Fees
A new bill has been introduced in Illinois. It would require sellers of residential properties to have the sewer line or septic tank, inspected by a licensed plumber using video camera. A plumber would prepare a written, dated report that includes his or her review of the condition of the line. The cost would be up to $500, so with about 150,000 home sales every year, it would impose a fee of $75 million per year on homeowners. The bill sponsored by Democrat Luis Arroyo, is yet another slap in the face of homeowners, who are already struggling with fees. Not so long ago, a CTA bailout was added to the closing fees. What’s next? How much more burden can be imposed on homeowners?
